Nyladria is one of the Five Dragon Ascendants. Her worship is concerned with the limits of knowledge and the care required when evidence is incomplete or uncertain.

Her followers are taught to distinguish what was observed from what was later inferred. This is especially important when dealing with prophecy, damaged records, or events whose meaning remains unclear.

Symbol

Nyladria's symbol is a dragon claw framing an open eye.

The eye represents observation, prophecy, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Green is most closely associated with Nyladria, with silver often used alongside it.

Depictions

Nyladria is depicted as a green dragon with a long neck, broad wings, and a pale underside. Branching horns rise from her head in a shape often compared to antlers, with smaller ridges continuing along her neck and back.

Her eyes are usually pale green or silver, while her wing membranes are often shown in warmer copper or amber tones.

Religious art frequently places her near preserved records or traces of the past. Other depictions show her observing scribes or diviners at work.

Knowledge Before Ascension

Nyladria was already known for prophecy and the preservation of knowledge before the end of the Dawn War.

She studied changes in ley lines and became associated with recognizing patterns others overlooked. Traditions from this period often emphasize her caution when dealing with incomplete information.

After the Primordial Titans were defeated, Nyladria was among the five dragons transformed by portions of their power.

Her foresight became more pronounced after ascension, and she gained the ability to communicate directly into another mind. Later traditions describe her conveying meaning without speaking aloud.

These gifts did not make her omniscient. Prophecy remained something to be recorded carefully and interpreted with caution.

Worship and Practice

Nyladria holds an especially important place in Dragonborn religion, particularly throughout the Aldramar Isles, though her worship is found elsewhere as well.

Her followers place great importance on preserving the difference between evidence and conclusion. Visions are recorded before interpretation, and conflicting accounts may remain side by side when there is not enough evidence to resolve them.

Damaged or incomplete knowledge is still worth preserving. An uncertain record should remain uncertain rather than being rewritten into something more convenient.

Knowledge that presents a credible risk of harm may be restricted. Nyladria's traditions distinguish controlling access from allowing information to disappear entirely.

Io and Ao retain their older place in Dragonborn religion as the first dragons. Their names may be acknowledged before rites involving prophecy or the preservation of important knowledge.

Nyladria and the Dragonborn

During the Incursion, Nyladria joined the other Dragon Ascendants at Thuradun and gave part of her own essence during the Second Forging.

Her influence remains visible in some Dragonborn approaches to recordkeeping. Important chronicles may preserve what information was available when a decision was made alongside the decision itself, allowing later readers to understand what could reasonably have been known at the time.

Nyladria's connection to Fate does not present the future as fixed. A vision may reveal something possible or incomplete, and acting on what has been seen can change what follows.

The present whereabouts of Nyladria and the other Ascendants are unknown. Some Dragonborn traditions hold that the Five still travel Eldareth in Dragonborn guise, concealing their identities as they move through the world.
