Of the Five Dragon Ascendants, Yverian is invoked most often at graves and funerals. His rites also mark duties, agreements, and struggles that have reached their end.

His followers keep the names of the dead, protect their resting places, and are taught not to spend more lives on something already lost.

Symbol

Yverian's symbol is a dragon claw holding a single scale.

The claw identifies him as one of the Five Ascendants. The scale represents what remains after an ending and the responsibility to preserve the memory of those who came before.

White, black, and pale blue are most closely associated with him.

Depictions

Yverian is depicted as a white dragon with broad wings and long horns sweeping back from his skull. His pale scales are often compared to frost or bone, with ice forming along his wings and spine.

His eyes are usually blue or blue-green.

Funerary art commonly shows him beside graves or watching over a burial ground.

Origin and Ascension

Yverian was among the dragons who fought in the final battle of the Dawn War.

Following the defeat of the Primordial Titans, portions of their immense power were bestowed upon Yverian and four other dragons, transforming them into the Five Dragon Ascendants. The three giant Jarls received portions of that power as well.

Traditions that developed around Yverian came to focus on burial, remembrance, and knowing when further sacrifice would serve no purpose.

Worship and Practice

Yverian's faith is strongest among Dragonborn, particularly in the Aldramar Isles. Dragons and others of draconic ancestry also honor him.

Io and Ao remain the first dragons in Dragonborn tradition, with the Five Ascendants honored after them. Their names may be included in funerary rites dedicated to Yverian.

Families often preserve a name, keepsake, or short account of the deceased when someone is buried. Unidentified remains are recorded carefully, along with anything that might later help establish who they were.

Graves placed under Yverian's protection are left undisturbed without good cause.

His rites may also be used when something is formally concluded. A military withdrawal, fulfilled oath, or agreement that has run its course can be marked in his name, making clear that the obligation or struggle has ended.

The Five Great Clans

Yverian has strong ties to Clan Astranax through the Forbidden Grove, where the remains of ancient dragons are protected.

Aegeron invokes him when holding a position would only add to the dead, while Arkheon calls on him when judgments or obligations are formally concluded. Rhogadan and Kaelenvex preserve similar customs for duties, works, and agreements that have reached their proper end.

Yverian and the Dragonborn

Yverian later joined the other Ascendants in the creation of the Dragonborn.

His influence is especially visible in Dragonborn burial customs and the keeping of family records. Some families preserve the location of a grave long after anyone living remembers the person buried there.

No reliable account establishes where Yverian or the other Ascendants are today. Many Dragonborn believe the Five continue to travel Eldareth in Dragonborn form while keeping their identities and power concealed.

• Settle your obligations before walking away from them.

• Allow what has ended to remain finished.
