Ezavion is one of the Five Dragon Ascendants. His worship concerns readiness for responsibilities that place lives at risk. Trials performed in his name are meant to reveal whether someone is prepared for what they are about to undertake.

Difficulty alone has little value in his teachings. A test should have a purpose, and failure should reveal something that can be corrected before the consequences become real.

Symbol

Ezavion's symbol is a dragon claw closed around a forked bolt of lightning.

The lightning recalls the storm that broke over the battlefield when he rose after his ascension.

Blue and silver are most closely associated with him.

Depictions

Ezavion is depicted as a blue dragon with a prominent horn rising from his snout and others sweeping back from his skull. Spines run along his neck and back, while lightning is often shown moving across his wings.

His eyes are usually depicted in pale blue or white. Images of his ascension often show him rising beneath a darkened sky with lightning passing between his horns.

Fall and Ascension

Ezavion fought in the final battle of the Dawn War.

Near the end of the fighting, primordial flame struck him down. Surviving traditions disagree on whether he died on the battlefield or remained barely alive.

After the Primordial Titans were defeated, Ezavion was among the five dragons transformed by portions of their power. As he rose, a storm broke across the battlefield.

His fall and return became closely associated with the idea that defeat need not be final. What matters in Ezavion's tradition is whether someone understands what brought them down and is better prepared when they rise again.

Worship and Practice

Ezavion holds a strong place in Dragonborn religion, particularly in the Aldramar Isles, though his worship reaches beyond Dragonborn communities.

His name is often invoked before someone accepts a duty in which poor preparation could endanger others. Tests performed under his name are expected to reflect the responsibility they are meant to prepare someone for and expose weaknesses while there is still time to address them.

Success is not always measured by completing a trial without error. Judgment under pressure and the ability to recognize and correct mistakes can matter just as much.

Failure does not permanently bar someone from trying again. Once its cause has been understood and addressed, the trial may be attempted anew.

Io and Ao hold an older place in Dragonborn religion as the first dragons. Oaths or trials placed under Ezavion's judgment may acknowledge them before his name is invoked.

Ezavion and the Dragonborn

During the Incursion, Ezavion joined the other Dragon Ascendants at Thuradun and contributed part of his own essence during the Second Forging.

Among Dragonborn, his name remains closely tied to responsibilities that cannot be taken lightly once other lives depend on them.

The present whereabouts of Ezavion and the other Ascendants are unknown. Some Dragonborn traditions hold that the Five still travel Eldareth in Dragonborn guise, concealing their identities as they move through the world.

Teachings

• Prepare before accepting responsibility for another person's safety.

• Do not abandon a responsibility while others still depend on you.

• Test readiness before placing dangerous authority in someone's hands.

• Understand failure and correct its cause before trying again.

• Never make a trial harsher than the responsibility it is meant to test.
