Among the Five Dragon Ascendants, Ezavion is most closely tied to storms, martial readiness, and trials that precede dangerous responsibilities.

Tests given in his name are expected to measure something useful. Hardship without purpose has little place in his worship.

Symbol

Ezavion's symbol is a dragon claw closed around a forked bolt of lightning.

The claw identifies him as one of the Five Ascendants. The lightning recalls the storm that accompanied his ascension.

Blue and silver are most closely associated with him.

Depictions

Ezavion is depicted as a blue dragon with a long horn rising from his snout and others sweeping back from his skull. Spines run along his neck and back, and lightning is often shown moving across his wings.

His eyes are usually pale blue or white. Images of his ascension sometimes show lightning passing between his horns as he rises from the battlefield.

Origin and Ascension

Ezavion was present at the final battle of the Dawn War.

Near the end of the conflict, he was struck down by primordial flame. Traditions disagree on whether the blow killed him or left him close to death.

Following the defeat of the Primordial Titans, portions of their immense power were bestowed upon Ezavion and four other dragons, transforming them into the Five Dragon Ascendants. The three giant Jarls received portions of that power as well.

A storm broke over the battlefield as Ezavion rose. His fall and return remain central to the trials performed in his name.

Worship and Practice

Ezavion's faith is strongest in the Dragonborn communities of the Aldramar Isles, though dragons and others of draconic ancestry also honor him.

Io and Ao hold an older place within these traditions as the first dragons. Their names are sometimes acknowledged before an oath or trial is placed under Ezavion's judgment.

His rites most often precede duties involving danger or responsibility for others. A trial is expected to resemble the risks of the duty closely enough to expose poor preparation before someone else has to suffer for it.

Failure does not permanently disqualify someone. A trial can be attempted again once the person understands what went wrong and has worked to correct it.

The Five Great Clans

Ezavion holds a particularly strong place in Aegeron tradition. Shieldsworn on Nymdrass undertake demanding trials before receiving duties that place other lives in their hands.

The same principle appears elsewhere in different forms. Rhogadan and Arkheon use trials before certain responsibilities are granted, while Astranax and Kaelenvex invoke Ezavion when judgment must be maintained under dangerous or exhausting conditions.

Among the Dragonborn

Ezavion later joined the other Ascendants in the creation of the Dragonborn.

His name remains closely tied to rites of readiness, particularly before command, dangerous work, or obligations that cannot easily be abandoned once accepted.

No accepted account establishes where Ezavion or the other Ascendants reside today. A widespread Dragonborn belief holds that the Five still cross Eldareth in Dragonborn form, keeping their identities and power concealed.

• Test ability before granting greater responsibility.

• Learn why you failed before trying again.

• Do not make a trial harsher than its purpose requires.

• Keep your judgment when fear and exhaustion set in.
