Armor, Clothing & Textiles

Armor, Clothing & Textiles covers standard protective equipment, clothing, woven goods, cordage, and other textile items produced through ordinary tool-based crafting.

These items use the normal mundane crafting procedure. The crafter must have proficiency with an eligible tool, provide the listed Material Cost, and spend the required Crafting Time. One workday represents 8 hours of work.

Conventional Materials can provide the entire Material Cost of any item in this article. Appropriate Special Materials can instead provide Ingredient Credit when they form a meaningful part of the finished construction.

Armor

Standard armor Recipes describe their ordinary construction. Their Special Material Profiles identify the Material Types that can normally contribute Ingredient Credit without changing the armor's basic design.

Using a Special Material does not by itself change Armor Class, Strength requirements, Stealth rules, weight, durability, or any other statistic.

A suit made primarily from unusual scales, shell, chitin, carapace, or another natural protective substance can use Plating only when a separate Recipe or Formula specifically establishes that construction.

Creature-derived material does not automatically turn an ordinary metal armor Recipe into a Plating Recipe.

Shields

Shield is not part of this mundane catalogue because the standard 2024 Smith's Tools Craft entry used by the catalogue establishes Medium and Heavy Armor rather than Shield as an ordinary Craft output.

A Shield can receive its own Recipe if an established crafting method is added later.

Clothing, Textiles & Cordage

Textile crafting is one of the most direct uses for Special Fibers.

Materials such as Feyspider Silk, Moorlint, Knotreed, processed Quillflax, and other appropriate Fibers can provide Ingredient Credit when they genuinely replace part of the Fiber used in the finished item.

A Special Fiber's Value contributes to the Material Cost. Its other qualities do not automatically become new mechanics of the finished object.

For example, Feyspider Silk does not automatically increase a Net's statistics, Moorlint does not automatically strengthen Rope, and a distinctive textile does not alter the Armor Class or durability of clothing unless a separate Recipe or Formula says otherwise.
