Glass, Ceramic & Mechanical Goods
Glass, Ceramic & Mechanical Goods covers ordinary glassware, optical equipment, pottery, metal goods, lanterns, locks, traps, and similar practical equipment produced through standard tool-based crafting.
These items use the normal mundane crafting procedure. The crafter must have proficiency with an eligible tool, provide the listed Material Cost, and spend the required Crafting Time. One workday represents 8 hours of work.
Conventional Materials can provide the entire Material Cost of any item in this article. Appropriate Special Materials can instead provide Ingredient Credit when they form a meaningful structural or functional part of the finished item.
Glassware & Optics
| Item | Purchase Price | Material Cost | Crafting Time | Eligible Tool | Special Material Profile |
| Glass Bottle | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Glassblower's Tools | Glass |
| Magnifying Glass | 100 gp | 50 gp | 10 workdays | Glassblower's Tools | Glass, Metal, Wood |
| Spyglass | 1,000 gp | 500 gp | 100 workdays | Glassblower's Tools | Glass, Metal, Wood |
| Vial | 1 gp | 5 sp | 1 workday | Glassblower's Tools | Glass |
Glass Materials
A Special Glass material can contribute Ingredient Credit when it genuinely forms the glass body, lens, or another substantial glass component of the item.
Magnifying Glass and Spyglass can also incorporate Metal or Wood through their frames, housings, handles, fittings, or similar construction.
The ordinary Recipes do not require an Optical Property.
If an unusual Glass material, lens, or other substance changes how an optical item functions, that requires a specialized Recipe or Formula rather than changing the mundane item automatically.
Pottery & Ceramic Goods
| Item | Purchase Price | Material Cost | Crafting Time | Eligible Tool | Special Material Profile |
| Jug | 2 cp | 1 cp | 1 workday | Potter's Tools | Mineral |
| Lamp | 5 sp | 2 sp 5 cp | 1 workday | Potter's Tools | Mineral |
Ceramic Materials
When a tracked Special Material is appropriate to pottery or ceramic work, clay, mineral temper, unusual stone-derived ceramic material, and similar substances use the Mineral Material Type.
Ordinary clay and common ceramic ingredients remain Conventional Materials.
Using a Special Mineral does not automatically make the finished Jug or Lamp harder, heat-resistant, magical, or otherwise different from the standard item.
General Metal Goods
| Item | Purchase Price | Material Cost | Crafting Time | Eligible Tool | Special Material Profile |
| Ball Bearings | 1 gp | 5 sp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Bell | 1 gp | 5 sp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Bucket | 5 cp | 2 cp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Caltrops | 1 gp | 5 sp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Chain | 5 gp | 2 gp 5 sp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Crowbar | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Flask | 2 cp | 1 cp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Grappling Hook | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Iron Pot | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Iron Spikes | 1 gp | 5 sp | 1 workday | Smith's Tools | Metal |
| Shovel | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal, Wood |
| Signal Whistle | 5 cp | 2 cp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Tinderbox | 5 sp | 2 sp 5 cp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal, Reagent |
Most items in this section use Metal as their primary Special Material Profile because the item's meaningful structure is metallic.
Shovel can also accept Wood because its handle forms a substantial part of the finished tool.
Tinderbox
A Tinderbox can incorporate both Metal and an appropriate Reagent.
The Reagent can represent tinder, a fire-starting preparation, treated fuel, or another consumable material forming a genuine part of the finished kit.
No general ignition Property is required, and using an unusual Reagent does not give the Tinderbox additional mechanics.
Security & Mechanical Equipment
| Item | Purchase Price | Material Cost | Crafting Time | Eligible Tool | Special Material Profile |
| Bullseye Lantern | 10 gp | 5 gp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal, Glass |
| Hooded Lantern | 5 gp | 2 gp 5 sp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal, Glass |
| Hunting Trap | 5 gp | 2 gp 5 sp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Lock | 10 gp | 5 gp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Manacles | 2 gp | 1 gp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
| Mirror | 5 gp | 2 gp 5 sp | 1 workday | Tinker's Tools | Metal |
Lanterns
Bullseye Lantern and Hooded Lantern can meaningfully incorporate both Metal and Glass.
A Special Glass can contribute through the lantern's panes or lens, while Special Metal can contribute through its body, fittings, frame, or shutter mechanism.
Special Materials do not change the lantern's normal light radius, fuel use, durability, or other rules unless a specialized Recipe or Formula establishes a different result.
Mirror
The standard Mirror represented by this Recipe is a handheld steel mirror.
Its Special Material Profile is therefore Metal, not Glass.
A glass-backed mirror or another substantially different construction would require its own established Recipe rather than silently changing the baseline item.
Locks, Manacles & Traps
Lock, Manacles, and Hunting Trap use Metal as their meaningful Special Material Profile.
Using a higher-value or unusual Metal provides Ingredient Credit when appropriate but does not automatically alter a Lock's DC, make Manacles harder to break, improve a Hunting Trap, or create another mechanical benefit.
Any such improvement requires a specialized Recipe or Formula.
