Myranthus is the god of dawn, healing, protection, and renewed hope. Creation traditions place his arrival at the first sunrise over Eldareth, after Ao and Io had established space and time.

His faith has historically been strongest among humans, though worship of Myranthus has never been limited to them. He is called upon to defend, heal, inspire, and give people the strength to continue when hardship has taken its toll.

Symbol

Myranthus is represented by a golden rising sun enclosed within a circle. Its rays mark the return of daylight and the promise of another beginning.

Gold, red, and white are the colors most commonly used in his religious imagery.

Depictions

Myranthus is usually depicted as a youthful humanoid figure in armor and a red mantle, with the light of dawn forming a bright halo behind his head.

Martial depictions give him a warhammer and shield, presenting him as a protector prepared to meet danger directly. Others show him carrying a lyre, particularly when portraying him as the Dawnsinger. In these works, song represents his power to inspire courage, strengthen resolve, and restore hope when fear or loss threatens to overwhelm it.

Some images combine both traditions, with the lyre carried alongside his arms and armor.

Divine Realm

Myranthus resides in the Dawnbreak Bastion, his divine realm within Mertion, the Platinum Heaven of Mount Celestia.

A perpetual sunrise hangs over the Bastion. Its halls are built from pale marble and glass that catches the morning light, and hymns are said to carry through them with every dawn. Phoenixes are believed to nest among its towers.

The Bastion serves as a place of healing, preparation, and defense. Those who train within its walls are taught that strength must serve a clear purpose, and that victory means little if it is followed by needless cruelty or conquest.

Origins and Divine Role

According to the oldest creation traditions, Myranthus appeared when the first sunrise reached Eldareth. With him came daylight, beginning the cycle of dawn and giving the newly formed world its first morning.

His role soon extended beyond the sun. Myranthus became a defender of mortal life and a source of healing and courage during times of danger. Stories of him rarely separate these duties. He might strike down a threat, stand between it and those in danger, tend the wounded afterward, or rally people who believed the struggle was already lost.

This understanding still shapes his faith. Strength has value when it protects others, healing carries responsibility beyond closing a wound, and courage can be given as readily as it can be found within oneself.

War falls within his authority, though conquest and needless bloodshed have no place in his teachings. Those who fight in his name are expected to know what they are defending and to show restraint once the danger has passed.

Worship and Practice

Sunrise is the principal time of worship for Myranthus. Temples commonly begin their daily observances with the first light, and important vows are often spoken at dawn.

Song has a prominent place in his faith. Hymns may accompany prayer, healing rites, remembrance, or the preparation for difficult work. The lyre appears frequently in older traditions and remains closely connected to the title of Dawnsinger.

Myranthus is especially prominent among human communities. His temples have also attracted followers from many other peoples, particularly where his teachings on protection, healing, and service have taken root.

In Nurathar, Sa'Fahir is celebrated through rites that make frequent use of fire and phoenix imagery. In Shen-Su, Ryōko is honored by several martial traditions, where prayer and meditation are practiced alongside weapons training.

The Thessaric Empire

Myranthus held a central place within the Thessaric Empire. His worship became one of its major religious traditions, with the Dawnsinger's Concord growing into an influential institution throughout the Empire.

Thessaric accounts also give Myranthus an important role in the struggle against the Triad. He is remembered as one of the powers that recognized the danger they posed and helped bring others together against their growing influence.

The ideals attached to his worship shaped Thessaric ideas of rulership and service. Authority carried an obligation to protect, military strength was expected to serve the realm rather than personal ambition, and recovery after war or disaster was treated as a responsibility shared by rulers and communities alike.

The Empire eventually fell, but the Dawnsinger's faith survived it. Many lands that once belonged to Thessar still retain rites, hymns, and customs that developed during the imperial period, contributing to Myranthus's enduring importance among humans.
