Manufactured Materials
Manufactured Materials are Special Materials created through processes that permanently develop, combine, or transform their inputs into a reusable crafting substance.
Unlike simple Processing, these Formulae produce materials with their own tracked identity, Value, Material Type, and crafting qualities. Some preserve useful functions from their ingredients, while others develop new Properties through Refinement, Transmutation, or the interaction of several materials.
Each Formula requires the named process and materials. Possessing ingredients with similar Properties, Affinities, or Value does not automatically reproduce the finished material.
Routine manufacture requires no ability check when the crafter knows the Formula, meets its proficiency requirements, has the necessary materials and facilities, and spends the required Crafting Time.

Required Materials: 1 portion Goldthread Fungus, 1 portion Chalklace
Goldthread Ingredient Credit: 4 gp
Chalklace Ingredient Credit: 4 gp
Additional Materials: 2 gp Conventional binders and processing materials
Required Tool: Alchemist's Supplies
Tool Proficiency: Required
Crafting Time: 2 workdays
Material Type: Reagent
Properties: Binding, Stabilizing
Affinity: None
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Goldlace Compound
Goldlace Compound is a thick specialist binder made from Goldthread Fungus, Chalklace, and a prepared resinous medium.
The Goldthread is cleaned and reduced into a fibrous binder, while the Chalklace is dried and ground to a fine mineral powder. Both materials are gradually incorporated into the resin until the mixture develops the consistency and curing behavior required by the Formula.
Goldthread contributes its Binding function to the finished material. Chalklace contributes Stabilizing, helping the compound remain uniform as it settles and cures.
Goldthread's Medicinal Property does not carry into the finished Compound.
Uses
Goldlace Compound is suitable for:
-
precision bonding
-
crystal bedding
-
mineral and ceramic repair
-
Component mounting
-
specialist glazes
-
setting crystalline or mineral inclusions
-
preparations where suspended material must remain evenly distributed while a binder cures
Its Stabilizing Property describes physical and chemical stability during preparation and curing. It does not automatically stabilize magical energy.
Its Binding Property makes it a useful specialist adhesive, but it does not function as a supernatural or unbreakable glue.
When appropriate to another Recipe or Formula, Goldlace Compound provides Ingredient Credit according to the quantity actually consumed.
Truesilver
Transformation: Transmutation
Output: 1 lb. Truesilver
Material Cost: 10 gp
Finished Value: 20 gp per lb.
Required Material: 1 lb. ordinary silver
Silver Value: 5 gp
Additional Materials: 5 gp Conventional transmutation reagents and process materials
Required Tool: Alchemist's Supplies
Tool Proficiency: Required
Required Skill: Arcana
Crafting Time: 2 workdays
Material Type: Metal
Property: Retentive
Affinity: None
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Truesilver Transmutation
Truesilver is produced by transforming ordinary silver into a stable magical-material state that accepts and retains deliberately imposed magical patterns unusually well.
The process is a true Transmutation rather than ordinary purification or metallurgy. The silver remains workable as metal, but its internal structure has changed enough to give the finished material its Retentive Property.
Properly made Truesilver can later be forged, cut, engraved, drawn into wire, or otherwise worked using tools appropriate to the finished object.
Suitable remelting can preserve Truesilver when the later process does not deliberately reverse or destroy its transmuted state.
Uses
Truesilver is particularly useful for:
-
magical inlays
-
runic work
-
enchantment anchors
-
warding assemblies
-
magical seals
-
focus fittings
-
enchanted jewelry
-
stable magical interfaces
-
Components designed to hold an imposed magical pattern
Retentive does not mean the metal automatically stores spells, charges, or magical energy.
A later Recipe or Formula determines what magical structure the Truesilver actually retains.
Truesilver is not inherently a magic item and does not automatically make a weapon or other object magical.
Glassteel
Transformation: Compound Material
Output: 1 lb. Glassteel
Material Cost: 15 gp
Finished Value: 30 gp per lb.
Required Material: 1 lb. suitable high-quality Conventional glass stock
Required Material: 0.25 lb. finely prepared Conventional steel
Additional Materials: Specialist Conventional fluxes, annealing materials, and furnace consumables included in the Material Cost
Required Tool: Glassblower's Tools
Tool Proficiency: Required
Required Facility: High-temperature glassworking furnace with controlled annealing
Crafting Time: 2 workdays
Material Type: Glass
Properties: None
Affinity: None
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Glassteel Manufacture
Glassteel is a transparent structural material produced by integrating finely prepared steel into carefully controlled glasswork.
The manufacturing process creates glass with four important physical characteristics:
Structural Transparency: Glassteel remains transparent enough for windows, viewing surfaces, and inspection panels.
High Toughness: It tolerates physical stress better than ordinary glass.
Low Brittleness: It is less prone to sudden cracking or shattering under ordinary structural loads.
Controlled Etching: Its surface can be worked with precise channels, markings, or fittings useful in technical construction.
These characteristics are physical qualities rather than Special Material Properties.
Uses
Glassteel is commonly suited to:
-
inspection windows
-
durable transparent housings
-
technical vessels
-
protective observation panels
-
arcane-engineering structures
-
conduit sleeves
-
transparent architectural elements
Glassteel does not automatically conduct magical energy, increase Armor Class, grant Resistance, or make an object magical.
When an application requires those effects, a later Recipe or Formula must provide them.
Harmonic Quartz
Transformation: Refinement
Output: 1 lb. Harmonic Quartz
Material Cost: 20 gp
Finished Value: 40 gp per lb.
Required Material: 1.25 lb. suitable Conventional quartz crystal stock
Quartz Stock Value: 10 gp
Additional Materials: 10 gp Conventional cutting, polishing, mounting, calibration, and workshop materials
Required Tool: Jeweler's Tools
Tool Proficiency: Required
Required Skill: Arcana
Required Facility: Precision crystal-working workspace
Crafting Time: 2 workdays
Material Type: Mineral
Property: Resonant
Affinity: None
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Harmonic Quartz Refinement
Harmonic Quartz is ordinary quartz whose crystalline structure has been carefully selected, shaped, aligned, and calibrated to respond to magical resonance in a predictable and repeatable way.
The process does not transform quartz into another substance. Instead, it develops a useful function already possible within a suitable coherent crystal, making the process a Refinement.
The quartz is selected for usable structure before being cut, polished, oriented, stress-controlled, and calibrated until it produces the intended Resonant response.
Uses
Harmonic Quartz is suitable for:
-
resonance references
-
magical tuning instruments
-
calibration devices
-
diagnostic Components
-
sound- or vibration-related magical apparatus
-
elemental and arcane engineering assemblies
-
Formulae requiring a Resonant Mineral
Harmonic Quartz is not automatically Conductive, Retentive, Regulating, Amplifying, or Divinatory.
It does not inherently store spells, contain magical charges, or possess psionic qualities.
Those functions require other materials or a finished construction designed to provide them.
Conduit Glass
Transformation: Compound Material
Output: 1 lb. Conduit Glass
Material Cost: 50 gp
Finished Value: 100 gp per lb.
Required Material: 1 lb. Glassteel
Glassteel Ingredient Credit: 30 gp
Required Material: 0.04 lb. Conductive Galarium Dust
Galarium Dust Ingredient Credit: 10 gp
Additional Materials: 10 gp Conventional vitreous binders, etching compounds, polishing materials, annealing materials, and process consumables
Required Tool: Glassblower's Tools
Tool Proficiency: Required
Required Skill: Arcana
Required Facility: Precision glassworking furnace with controlled annealing and fine etching
Crafting Time: 5 workdays
Material Type: Glass
Property: Conductive
Affinity: None
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Conduit Glass Manufacture
Conduit Glass combines the structural advantages of Glassteel with purpose-refined Conductive Galarium distributed through controlled internal pathways.
The material remains transparent and physically robust while gaining the ability to carry magical energy through its internal structure.
Manufacture begins with finished Glassteel. Fine pathways are established within the material, Conductive Galarium Dust is incorporated using suitable vitreous binders, and the material is sealed, annealed, and tested for continuity.
Uses
Conduit Glass is suited to situations where magical energy must travel through a rigid medium while the pathway remains:
-
protected
-
visible or inspectable
-
precisely shaped
-
accessible for diagnosis or maintenance
Common applications include magical instruments, conduit assemblies, inspection sections, engineered magical interfaces, and larger arcane systems.
Galarium Input
Conduit Glass requires 0.04 lb. of Conductive Galarium Dust.
It uses Galarium Dust directly rather than Galarium Scribing Ink. The two materials solve different manufacturing problems.
The finished Glass gains Conductive because the incorporated Galarium is deliberately arranged to provide that function.
Additional Properties possessed by the input Galarium Dust do not automatically carry into the finished material.
Conduit Glass does not qualify for the standard Galarium-Assisted Crafting time reduction because the Galarium has been incorporated into a Compound Material rather than remaining qualifying refined solid Galarium.
The material also has no universal magical transmission capacity per pound. The limits of a completed system depend on its actual engineering.
Cinderplate
Transformation: Compound Material
Output: 1 lb. Cinderplate
Material Cost: 20 gp
Finished Value: 40 gp per lb.
Required Material: 0.5 lb. Salamander Scale
Salamander Scale Ingredient Credit: 5 gp
Required Material: 0.5 lb. prepared Conventional mineral matrix
Mineral Matrix Cost: 15 gp
Required Tool: Potter's Tools
Tool Proficiency: Required
Required Skill: Arcana
Required Facility: High-temperature kiln or controlled specialist workshop
Crafting Time: 2 workdays
Material Type: Plating
Property: Regulating
Affinity: Elemental
Elemental Aspect: Fire
Direct Use: None
Formula Required: Cinderplate Manufacture
Cinderplate is a rigid manufactured Plating produced by combining Salamander Scale with a prepared mineral matrix under controlled high-temperature conditions.
The Salamander Scale provides genuine Elemental Affinity with a Fire Aspect. During manufacture, the interaction between the Scale and the mineral matrix also creates a new Regulating Property in the finished material.
Regulating is therefore a quality of the completed Cinderplate rather than a Property simply inherited from Salamander Scale.
Uses
Cinderplate is suited to:
-
Fire-aligned Components
-
elemental housings
-
regulating surfaces
-
protective structures used inside elemental machinery
-
magical devices that must mediate Fire-aligned energy
-
Formulae requiring Regulating Plating with Fire provenance
Its Elemental Affinity and Fire Aspect make it appropriate where genuine Fire-elemental provenance matters.
Its Regulating Property makes it useful where a rigid material must help moderate or control an engineered magical interaction.
Cinderplate does not automatically grant Fire Resistance or Fire Immunity, deal Fire damage, improve Armor Class, or make an object magical.
Those effects require a finished item, Component, or system whose own rules provide them.
