The Transitive Planes

The Transitive Planes are the primary pathways through which planar travel occurs within a Reality Sphere. Eldareth's cosmology recognizes two: the Ethereal Plane and the Astral Plane.

The Ethereal Plane overlaps with the Prime Material Plane and its Echo Planes and provides routes between them and the four Elemental Planes. The Astral Plane connects the Prime Material Plane to the Outer Planes, serving as the principal route through the wider spiritual and divine reaches of the planar system.

The Energy Planes are not part of either ordinary transit network and are typically reached directly through planar magic, established portals, or other controlled crossings. Neither Transitive Plane extends beyond its Reality Sphere or provides passage through Driftspace.

Unlike many other planes, the importance of the Ethereal and Astral comes largely from the realms they connect and the forms of travel they make possible.
