Codex of Champions
Across Eldareth, a class represents the path through which an adventurer has learned to understand and use their abilities. For some, that path begins with formal training in an academy, temple, military company, or other established tradition. For others, it develops through personal experience or circumstances that could never have been taught.
Two characters of the same class may therefore have very different histories. A fighter's skill might come from years of disciplined training, while a sorcerer may have spent those same years learning to control magic that was already part of them. Their class describes what they can do, while their background and experiences help explain how they came to it.
Subclasses narrow that path further, reflecting the particular tradition, specialization, or source that shapes a character's abilities. Some are found widely across Eldareth, while others developed within particular cultures, institutions, or magical traditions.
