Timekeeping in Eldareth
Most of the established kingdoms, cities, and institutions of Eldareth use a shared system for recording years.
The calendar is counted from the Upheaval, the magical catastrophe that marks the beginning of the modern reckoning. This system is known as the Upheaval Reckoning, or U.R.

Dates before the Upheaval are recorded as Before the Upheaval (B.U.).

The Upheaval itself marks 0 U.R.

Dates after it are recorded as Year X U.R.
For example, 741 U.R. is seven hundred and forty-one years after the Upheaval.
The U.R. count provides a common way to record dates across much of Eldareth, but it does not replace local tradition. Different cultures and faiths continue to observe their own holidays, anniversaries, and commemorations within the shared reckoning.
