Timekeeping in Eldareth
Across empires and faiths, the people of Eldareth share a common way of marking time. Years are counted in relation to the Upheaval, the great magical cataclysm that reshaped the world and began a new era.
This system is known as the Upheaval Reckoning (U.R.).
- Dates before the Upheaval are recorded as Before the Upheaval (B.U.).
- Dates after it are recorded as Year X U.R.
For example, the year 741 U.R. marks seven hundred and forty-one years since the Upheaval.
Across modern Eldareth, nobles and common folk alike use the U.R. count, while major anniversaries are often measured from important historical events.
