The Hollow Depths
The Hollow Depths are the vast subterranean regions beneath Eldareth. Their cavern systems extend far below the surface, sometimes connecting across great distances and elsewhere ending against faults, flooded passages, or immense barriers of stone.
The upper and most extensively inhabited regions are known as the Murmuring Depths. Settlements and travelled routes exist throughout many of its cavern networks, though much of the underground remains wilderness or has never been thoroughly explored.
Far below lies the Hollow Dark, where reliable knowledge becomes increasingly scarce. Few routes descend far enough to approach it, and accounts from those regions describe environments and phenomena unlike those of the better-known caverns above.
Together, the Murmuring Depths and the Hollow Dark form an underground world whose geography, peoples, and environments remain only partly understood even by those who have lived beneath Eldareth for generations.
