Yssarel, the Wildmother
Greater Deity
Domains: Life, Nature, Peace
Cultural Names: Tal’Khuna in Nurathar, Shanmu in Shen-Su
Domain
Yssarel dwells within the Emerald Wilds, a boundless and ever-blooming realm of primal growth located in Arborea. Her domain is shaped by natural rhythms — cycles of budding, decay, and renewal. Forests breathe with memory, rivers carry ancient instinct, and the seasons turn in harmonious balance. All life that grows in peace and harmony echoes her presence.
Creation and Divine Role
Yssarel was formed in the earliest breath of creation, when Elgalar called life to awaken. Where Lymarel raised the lands and seas, and Ao and Io shaped space and time, it was Yssarel who filled the world with living essence. She seeded the forests, populated the skies and waters, and brought balance to nature.
Her role was to establish the eternal pattern of life, not as dominance or control, but as coexistence. She shaped no cities, spoke no commandments, but watched as life unfolded in patterns beyond prediction.
After the death of her sister, Yssarel ceased to speak. Since that loss, she has expressed her will only through wind, never again by voice.
Worship and Doctrine
Yssarel is honored not through doctrine but through stewardship. Her worshippers are druids, caretakers, gardeners, and shepherds — those who walk alongside nature, not above it.
In Nurathar, she is revered as Tal’Khuna, guardian of sacred groves and memory roots. In Shen-Su, Shanmu is honored in flower rites, harvest processions, and planting prayers.
Her faithful do not build temples, but sanctify living spaces: groves, clearings, orchards, and the edges of rivers where growth is untouched. Offerings are returned to the land. Celebrations follow the seasons.
Clerics of Yssarel choose from the Life, Nature, or Peace domains. They serve as mediators between civilization and the wild, guiding others in living with the land rather than upon it.
Tenets:
-
Life grows where it can — nurture it.
-
Preserve balance in all things.
-
Let death return to soil. Let birth rise from it.
-
The wild needs no words.
Echo of Creation — The Verdant Crown
Yssarel’s Echo of Creation is the Verdant Crown, an artifact not forged but grown. Formed of living silver-vines and eternal blossoms, it pulses with the heartbeat of the natural world. The Crown responds to harmony, blooming more brightly in the presence of peace and balance.
Those who bear the Verdant Crown may restore barren land, calm beasts, and bind violent forces into stillness. It is a crown of life’s authority, but not of rule — it cannot command, only heal.
Divine Mark — The Wildvine Sigil
The Wildvube Sigil coils across the skin of Yssarel’s Chosen as a living green sigil. The mark shifts with the seasons — budding in spring, blooming in summer, curling gold in autumn, and dimming in winter. It glows softly in times of healing, growth, and calm.
Those who carry the Sigil may coax growth from withered ground, mend flesh with touch, or calm rage with presence. The Sigil is not a mark of command, but of invitation — it lets life respond.
Mythic Role in Eldareth
Yssarel’s presence underlies the heartbeat of the world. When creation first stirred, it was she who filled it with breath. When Eltharel wove the silence of death, Yssarel ensured that silence would never be permanent.
Her silence since her sister’s fall is not absence — it is vow. She no longer speaks, but her will is felt in every cycle, every wild place, every seed.
She shaped the first druids and shepherded balance into a chaotic world. Her name is not cried out, but whispered under leaves, or carved into the bark of sacred trees. She is the calm after storm, the hand over the seed, the shade where grief roots and hope quietly grows.
