The Months of the Year in Ethelra

First established by imperial decree in the grand halls of Thessaria, the twelve-month cycle has endured beyond empire, beyond cataclysm, and into the present day. These months guide not only trade and governance but also faith, seasonal rhythms, and community traditions throughout all corners of Ethelra.

Though the empire that named them has faded, the months remain — honored in both the ledgers of bustling port cities and the whispered prayers of rural villagers.

Velisar

Mid-Winter
A time of quiet beginnings. Once marked by imperial resolutions, today families across Eldareth gather to reflect and prepare. In Vel’Nathar, ships launch under dawn blessings; in Skorrheim, offerings are left on frozen altars.

Elaris

Late Winter
Subtle growth beneath frost. Temples hold silent vigils, and dream-readers are sought throughout Ostheria. In rural provinces, seeds are ritually blessed for planting in coming months.

Zarethil

Early Spring
Life’s promise returns. Markets in Tessarion display bright silks and early blooms, and many craft guilds choose Zarethil to unveil their first works of the year.

Vaeloris

Mid Spring
Radiance and renewal. Civic festivals, processions of light, and community feasts are common. Across Célaine, artists compete in public displays of color and form.

Toramir

Late Spring
A month of strength and celebration. Calvessan scholars hold lectures open to the public, and Vel’Nathari harbors swell with trade and tournament spectators.

Calrisar

Early Summer
Heavy warmth and anticipation. Farmers prepare storehouses, and mages consult ancient calendars for omens of the harvest.

Vienor

Midsummer
Balance and wisdom. In Calvessa, contracts are finalized; in Loramir, families hold private rites of gratitude. Across Eldareth, harvests begin.

Loramir

Late Summer / Early Autumn
Gentle fading and reflection. Lantern festivals light city streets, while in the countryside, bonfires and storytelling bind communities together.

Theranis

Mid Autumn
Solemn twilight. Ancestor feasts and commemorative offerings dominate the month. Skorrheim clans honor fallen heroes; Tessarion hosts the Rite of Remembrance.

Dravenis

Late Autumn
Stark stillness. Scholars retreat for study, hunters prepare for long journeys, and in the coastal settlements of Vel’Nathar, night vigils ward off storms.

Serathis

Early Winter
Stars reign supreme. Observatories across Eldareth open their domes to the public, and constellations are traced in ritual and song.

Endaril

Winter’s Turn / Year’s End
Hearths burn brightly. Debts are settled, oaths renewed, and communities gather in warmth and laughter to await the new cycle.
