Lerathae, the Moonmaiden
Greater Deity
Domains: Arcana, Knowledge, Peace, Twilight
Cultural Names: Nilasa’ra in Nurathar, Tsukihana in Shen-Su
Domain
Lerathae resides in the Moonfall Sanctuary, a serene and luminous realm within Elysium, nestled along the River Oceanus. The sanctuary is a place of quiet reflection and eternal twilight, where dreams are gathered and memories are gently preserved. Here, Lerathae listens to the sleeping worlds and guides souls with calm purpose.
Creation and Divine Role
Lerathae emerged as the moon first rose upon Eldareth, casting her glow across the newborn world. She followed in the wake of Myranthus’s dawn, bringing balance, calm, and introspection. While he lit the day with fire and resolve, she offered solace and reflection through the long night.
Lerathae did not shape terrain or conjure life — she shaped the in-between: the space between thoughts, between breath and silence. She brought about wonder, mystery, and the unspoken guidance found in dreams. Where others worked through force or structure, Lerathae works through presence and unseen paths.
Worship and Doctrine
Lerathae is revered as the guardian of moonlight, dreams, hidden wisdom, and gentle guidance. Worship is most active among the Vaela’drin and Falha’drin, both of whom she guided out of the Feywild. Her intervention became their origin story — a whisper that led them to a new world when their old one crumbled.
Her shrines are often quiet places of silver, stone, and flowing water. Dreambinding, the practice of guiding or reading dreams as a sacred rite, traces its origin to her early followers. Lantern-light vigils, twilight walks, and silent prayers make up the core of her worship.
Clerics of Lerathae choose from the Arcana, Knowledge, Peace, and Twilight domains. Many serve as seers, guides, or scholars who preserve memory and tend to spiritual passage.
Tenets:
-
Let silence speak where words falter.
-
Soothe the wounded, shelter the weary.
-
Remember what others forget.
-
Move between shadows without fear.
Echo of Creation — Moonveil Mantle
Lerathae’s Echo of Creation is the Moonveil Mantle, a flowing garment woven from starlight and sacred silence. It drapes over the shoulders like living mist and responds to moonlight, glowing with resonance when truth is spoken or when a dreamer’s spirit stirs.
The bearer of the Moonveil Mantle can move unseen between thresholds, guide souls in trance, and hear voices carried by the wind — not with force, but with grace. It is a relic of peace and protection, not conquest.
Divine Mark — The Lunar Veilmark
Those Chosen by Lerathae bear the Lunar Veilmark, a shifting sigil of silver crescent whorls that drift softly across the skin. The mark shimmers faintly in starlight, and when invoked, leaves traces of moonlight in the air.
Veilmarked individuals walk between light and dark. They sense illusions, peer into dreams, and step into places others cannot follow. In their presence, spirits feel comforted, and shadows still.
Mythic Role in Eldareth
Lerathae plays a vital role in the story of the elven people. When the Feywild trembled under the chaos of the early wars, she guided the Moonlit Grove and Midnight Glade clans through a secret path between worlds. They emerged in Eldareth and became the Moon Elves and Shadow Elves — carrying her light and silence within them forever.
She watches from afar, speaks rarely, and intervenes only in silence — yet her presence is known in every dream that offers peace, every mystery that leads to wisdom, and every step taken without fear in the dark.
