You are a master of uncovering secrets and discerning truth, an investigator whose keen eye and sharp mind can pierce through deceptions and reveal hidden details. Whether you’re a detective, a spy, a profiler, or simply driven by an insatiable curiosity, you excel at reading creatures and situations, turning your profound understanding into a potent weapon.

Level 3: Observant Scrutiny

Your keen senses and sharp mind allow you to pick up on subtle tells and hidden details. You gain the following benefits:

  • Trained Eye. You gain proficiency in the Insight and Investigation skills. If you are already proficient in either skill, you gain expertise in that skill instead.

  • Detail Oriented. As a Bonus Action, you can make a Wisdom (Insight) check to discern a creature's intentions or detect a lie, or a Wisdom (Perception) check to find a hidden creature or object, or an Intelligence (Investigation) check to deduce information from a clue or scene.

  • Calculated Assessment. If you use your Detail Oriented bonus action to make a Wisdom (Insight) check against a creature, you learn one of its damage vulnerabilities, resistances, or immunities (if any, DM's choice).

Level 3: Insightful Combatant

You can use your sharp intellect to outmaneuver foes. As a Bonus Action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. Make a Wisdom (Insight) check contested by the creature's Charisma (Deception) check.

  • On a success: For the next minute, you can use your Sneak Attack against that creature even if you don't have advantage on the attack roll, but not if you have disadvantage on it. Additionally, the first time you hit the creature with an attack each turn while this benefit is active, you can use one of your Cunning Strike options against it without expending the Sneak Attack die normally required for that option.

  • On a failure: You cannot use this feature against that creature again until you finish a short or long rest.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Level 9: Steadfast Investigator

Your focus sharpens when delving into mysteries. You gain the following benefits:

  • Focused Mind. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks if you spend at least 1 minute observing or examining the subject.

  • Unwavering Gaze. You have advantage on saving throws against illusions and against being charmed or frightened by creatures you are investigating or interacting with.

Level 13: Expose Deception

Your ability to pierce through falsehoods becomes unnervingly potent. When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you makes a Charisma (Deception) check, or attempts to magically deceive (such as via an illusion spell or effect), you can use your Reaction to contest its check with your Wisdom (Insight) check.

If your Insight check succeeds:

  • The creature has disadvantage on its Deception check, or its illusion flickers and its true nature is momentarily revealed to you.

  • For the next minute, you and allies within 30 feet of you who can see or hear you have advantage on attack rolls against that creature, as its deceptions and defenses are laid bare.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Level 17: Pierce the Veil

Your profound insight allows you to see the absolute truth of things. As an action, you can focus on one creature, object, or specific location within 60 feet. For the next minute, you gain the following benefits regarding the target:

  • You automatically discern if it is affected by illusion, transmutation, or enchantment magic, and you perceive its true form if it is shapechanged or magically disguised.

  • You learn if it is under any emotional or mental influence (like charmed or frightened) and by what.

  • You have advantage on all Wisdom (Insight) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks related to it.

  • Your attacks against it ignore all of its damage resistances (but not immunities).

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
