Ael’tharis: The Isle of Dawn
Situated at the southeastern edge of the Isles of Alven'Nathiss, Ael'tharis is the most radiant and prosperous island in the archipelago, its shores are kissed by the soft glow of the rising sun each morning. It lies closest to the mainland of Vel’Nathar, forming a natural link between the larger landmass and the isles, often referred to as the “Gateway of Dawn.”
The Sun Elves who first settled here after their exodus from the Feywild, have shaped the landscape over the centuries, using their mastery of arcane magic to transform the island into a flourishing haven of beauty. The weather, naturally cool and mist-laden due to its proximity to the sea, has been subtly influenced by magic, allowing for bursts of warmth and sun that keep the land fertile and thriving, in stark contrast to the more gloomy and temperamental climate of the rest of Vel'Nathar. Gentle rains fall in perfect rhythm to nourish crops, while the sky remains often clear during festivals and harvests. The air is cool but rarely harsh, with the sun breaking through misty clouds most mornings, casting a glow upon the land.
Geography and Landscape
Ael'tharis is a land of striking beauty, with every aspect of its terrain subtly molded by magic. To the east, the Ithreni Hills rise gently, providing breathtaking views of the ocean and the surrounding islands. The western side of the island, where the Mirathril Woods lie, is more wild and untamed, though still touched by magic to make it serene and beautiful rather than dangerous. The northern coastline is rugged and craggy, shaped by ancient cliffs, their edges softened by an ever-present mist that reflects the colors of the sunrise in a dazzling array of hues. The southern shores feature sweeping golden beaches, touched by gentle waters that are often warmer than those elsewhere in the region, thanks to subtle arcane manipulation.
As for the central region of the island, it is a blend of rolling hills, and wide-open fields. The island is verdant, though its natural greenery has been altered by magic to better suit the tastes of its Sun Elf inhabitants. With their keen sense of aesthetics and their arcane inclinations, they have used magic not only to manipulate the weather but also to shape the land itself. Streams are redirected to feed into reservoirs of crystalline water, and terraced hills glisten with dew, even in times of drought, due to arcane irrigation techniques. The island's moderate temperatures are maintained year-round through controlled weather patterns, ensuring a climate perfect for agriculture and habitation.
The island’s heartland is also known for its orchards and vineyards, where the Sun Elves cultivate a variety of fruits, including luminous golden apples, sun-ripened peaches, sunberries, and arcane-infused grapes of deep purple and green that produce wines said to glow faintly in the dark and are celebrated for their rich flavors. This area, known as Lathorien Fields, is a landscape where agriculture blends seamlessly with elegant elven villas, their pale stone walls entwined with enchanted ivy that shifts color with the seasons.
Sera’lyren: The Radiant Capital
Near the southeastern shores, Sera'lyren (the Seat of the Sun in elven), the capital, rises proudly from the landscape like a gleaming crown.
The buildings of Sera’lyren rise in sleek, sweeping spires made of polished white stone laced with veins of shimmering gold. A blend of elven elegance and arcane prowess, the architecture features softly glowing glyphs along walls and archways.
